What drives business internet cost

Two businesses on the same street can be quoted very differently, and it is rarely about how big the company is.

The address does most of the work

What is already built to the building determines the field of options and therefore the competitive pressure on the quote. An address served by several commercial carriers looks nothing like one that needs a construction build to reach the street. This is the single largest factor and nothing about your business changes it.

What you are actually buying

  • Capacity, especially upload, and whether the circuit is dedicated or shared
  • Service level terms: response time, restoration target and credits
  • Static IP addresses, singly or as a small block
  • A second path or failover hardware for redundancy
  • Equipment — owned, rented or included — and who supports it
  • On-site work: cabling, access points, racks and any construction
  • Contract length, and what happens at renewal

Compare like for like, or do not compare

A cheap best-effort circuit with no service level and a small upload is not the same product as a dedicated symmetrical service with a restoration target, even though both appear on a quote as a monthly number. Put the terms side by side before the prices.

Where the savings usually are

Most savings come from competition at your address and from bundling services under one commercial agreement rather than from squeezing a single carrier. That is the case for checking the whole field at once: you find out what the address can support before anyone quotes you.

(e) Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does business internet cost?+

It varies widely by address, capacity and service level, so any published figure would be misleading. We compare real offers from the providers that serve your address and show you the actual numbers side by side, free and with no obligation.

Why is business service priced above residential?+

Commercial agreements include support terms, escalation paths, static addressing where required and capacity written for shared business use. They are different products, and a business address needs the commercial one.

Does a longer contract lower the rate?+

Often, but weigh it against flexibility — especially at a new location or a site you may outgrow. Check the renewal terms and exit notice before signing a long term.
