Internet for a new business location

The connectivity question should be answered before the lease is signed, not after the fit-out starts.

Check availability before you sign

Two units in the same building can have different options, and a site that needs construction to reach fibre can add weeks to an opening date. An address check before signing costs nothing and occasionally changes which unit a business takes — or gives you something to negotiate with the landlord about.

Order earlier than feels necessary

Where infrastructure already reaches the building, commercial installs often complete in days. Where it does not, the timeline stretches. Ordering as soon as the lease is signed means the circuit is ready for the fit-out rather than the fit-out waiting on the circuit — and it leaves room for a temporary path if construction runs long.

Sequence the trades in the right order

  • Agree the rack or comms cupboard location early with the contractor
  • Run structured cabling before walls and ceilings close
  • Place access points against the final floor plan, not the sketch
  • Set up phone numbers and porting in parallel with the install
  • Test payments, phones, cameras and guest access before opening day

Opening day should be boring

Everything that touches the connection — registers, phones, cameras, cloud apps, guest Wi-Fi — should be tested under something resembling real load a week before you open, with someone accountable for fixing what fails. That is the difference between a soft launch and a scramble.

(e) Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does business internet take to install?+

Often days where facilities already reach the building, and several weeks where construction to the premises is required. The address check gives you a realistic date before you commit to an opening.

Can I get service before the fit-out is finished?+

Frequently yes, and it helps — contractors, alarm installers and payment vendors all need connectivity during the build.

What if my new address has poor options?+

There is usually a workable path, including fixed wireless as an interim while a better circuit is built. We will tell you plainly what the address supports rather than sell you around it.
